Hair By Ms Marie: Happy Haitian Mother's Day
Happy Haitian Mother's Day from Hair By Ms Marie God's Favored |
The meaning of tradition from Haiti for Mother's Day is different for us in some ways. There, we use the last Sunday of the month of May to celebrate our mother.
Those who still have their mom alive will wear a red rose with green leaves as a corsage flower, the ones whose mom passed will be wearing a purple rose with black leaves through the whole month until it's over. It doesn't matter if you're young or old, everybody does it.
Mother's Day in Haiti will feel happiness and also sadness. The living moms will get gifts and flowers, Those mommies who passed will get flowers on their graves, but we will still get this little quote (Se pou fe sa chak jou translation: Must do it every day) but we know deep down inside their hearts or really souls, they're happy.
So here in America we only do most is wear the roses and some kid will ask their Haitian moms why they have two Mother's Day, There are two sets of kids in this scenario, the kid that is born here, USA, will celebrate the American one and the one from Haiti will celebrate at the end of May. Either way, let's enjoy them both. Once again, Happy Haitian's Mothers Day!

Hair By Ms Marie: Shampoo or Co-Wash Reasons and Benefits (Benefits Part A)
Hair By Ms Marie: Shampoo or Co-Wash Technique Reasons and Benefits of using Treatment (Continued)
Part 5: Reasons and Benefits of Shampoo or Co-Washing (Benefits Part A)
We're going to continue with the BENEFITS today, they are:
1)No more dryness,
2)No more sandy grey looking hair,
3)No more split ends,
4) No more easily damaged, in two words, Sick and Unhealthy looking hair;
Now that your scalp is fed and ready to grow some beautiful healthy hair.
All these tips help protect your hair from getting dry, damaged by heat, and chemicals products. For example, let me share this little experience I had with my daughter:
I had to travel, so I left her to Co-wash her hair and my god-daughter to blow-dry her hair. I forget to leave the heat protector with them so they ended up do it without it. My daughter said, "Mommy, is my hair going to get damage?" I said, "No, you're good!"
Why I was so sure and confident enough to say, "No," because everything that we do with our hair makes sure to protect it when regularly given treatments. We follow the same steps I blog on and more.
I will continue to blog on other treatments like: Protein, Mask, Hot Oil, and Scalp Therapy Treatments. I love them all and I use them to meet my clients/new clients hair needs.
As I promised, the next blog of tips will be a continuation of Step 5 BENEFITS. A picture blog of how to prepare those treatments for co-wash.
Stay tuned and Enjoy!

Hair By Ms Marie: Shampoo or Co-Wash Technique Reasons and Benefits of using Treatment
HMMGF Deep Conditioning and HMMGF Leave-in Conditioner w/ Hair Follicle Diagram |
Part 5: Reasons and Benefits of Shampoo or Co-Washing
Today we're going to start with the REASONS:
As being African American women, our scalp does not produce enough oil naturally with all that we normally do on a daily basis as to hair care today. Much we do to our hair strips us of our natural oils that would help protect it. That's why we have to do more than just regular Shampoo and Co-Wash to cleanse. We also need to put oils back into our hair and on the scalp to maintain health of the hair. It doesn't matter if you are natural or have chemically treated hair, you still need to play it safe. I have seen and dealt with dry, badly damaged hair due to stripping the natural oils our scalp produces. When I asked my clients, "Why their hair is like this," their stories always the same. They do not do much more than clean the hair. Shampooing the hair just took essential oils their scalp produces to protect their hair away.
The Key Word here is "Treatment". Treating the hair is how we can feed and help our scalp to have enough nutrients. Our scalp needs to be fed just like our body, that's why I made my HMMGF Hot/cold Oil Treatment which uses only organic vegetables.
Soon I will make another one that can be used for hair, skin, and nails all-in-one.
Please take care your hair and body!
Look out for the next blog about BENEFITS of using a treatment.
Enjoy!!!
